Cumming’s original Veterans War Memorial was located at 301 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, one block from the city square. The memorial paid homage to the sons and daughters of Cumming and Forsyth County who served their country on both foreign and American soil. Engraved into granite pillars were the names of the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for our great country.
In 2023, it was decided by Mayor Troy Brumbalow and City Leadership that the Cumming Veterans War Memorial would be relocated and updated at the Cumming City Center. The new Cumming Veterans War Memorial is located at the Cumming City Center, around the reflecting pool at the rear of the Lou Sobh Amphitheater. Elements of the original Veterans War Memorial were either relocated or recreated for use at the new memorial. Additionally, the new Veterans War Memorial features plaques honoring the three national Veterans Service Organizations with chapters in Forsyth County: The Veterans of Foreign War, American Legion, and Vietnam Veterans of America, as well as descriptions of all major conflicts from the Civil War through today.
